Connect to 4-H History News

The 4-H History News site has a feed set up that you can link to from your browser. In techie terms, we have an RSS feed.

When you add the 4-H History Preservation News to your favorites, your browser creates a drop-down list containing links to the 10 most recent articles that have been posted.

What is RSS?

RSS (Rich Site Summary) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Many news-related sites, weblogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS Feed to whoever wants it.

Benefits and Reasons for using RSS

RSS solves a problem for people who regularly use the web. It allows you to easily stay informed by retrieving the latest content from the sites you are interested in. You save time by not needing to visit each site individually. You ensure your privacy, by not needing to join each site’s email newsletter.

Who uses RSS?

Any site that has a lot of constantly changing content, such as news outlets, group newsletters, etc. To know if a site is using RSS, look for the RSS icon, shown below.

This will usually be found in the page header or margin. Sites have the ability to put code into their pages that allow browsers to automatically detect a feed. When this occurs, you will see the RSS icon appear in the top-most navigation bar of the browser.

4-H History Preservation News Feed Now Available

The link information for the 4-H History Preservation News has been added to all pages on the 4-H History Preservation Site at http://4-HHistoryPreservation.com.

When you visit one of the pages, your web browser should automatically detect that the feed is available and allow you to add it to your feed list.

If you use a stand-alone news reader, you can add the feed to your reader by adding http://4-HHistoryPreservation.com/News/?feed=rss2

The news feed now also appears at the bottom of each page on the site.

Once you add the supplied code to your page(s), the History News Feed will appear as you see below.
